“Living and Learning” Life Skills Program

“Living & Learning” Life Skills Program (21+ years)

This program serves as an extension of our “Steps to Independence” program for our adult members. One two-hour life skills class is hosted per month and focuses on intermediate life skills concepts with the ultimate goal to make each participant more independent inside and outside the home. A core concept is chosen for each class, and activities are planned that address that concept from our four skill angles, which we refer to as the “4C’s”: Cooking, Cleaning, Community, and Communication. Examples of core concepts may be money, employment, health, etc. Using hands-on activities, role playing, group brainstorming, and activities in the real-world setting, participants in this program gain the skills and confidence they need to achieve their lifelong independence goals. There is no fee to participate in this program.
