On-The-Move Capital Campaign

Currently, DSL serves more than 775 individuals from birth to late adulthood with Down syndrome. This is a 106% growth within the past five years. Although DSL is centrally located in Louisville, they serve families from 45 counties in Kentucky and 11 counties in Indiana.

The current facility fails to provide the unique and necessary educational, social, and life skills training to infants, school age children, and adults. Because of structural limitations, programming is limited in scope and capacity, forcing staff to use insufficient space and equipment, which restricts their impact.

To maintain Down Syndrome of Louisvilleís high standards of excellence, DSL is building a six acre campus and facility that will meet DSLís expanding needs now and in the future. Focused on research-based, multi-faceted learning throughout the life span of a person with Down syndrome, the DSL Lifelong Learning Center will serve as a national model for integrating educational, occupational, and social skills into the daily lives of those impacted by Down syndrome. It will be the first and only center of its kind in the United States, showcasing Kentucky as an educational leader.
